Drunter & Drüber — Eine leicht ausgeflippte Geschichte der Reizwäsche — is the German edition of Claire Paillochet's Sans dessus dessous: Histoire délirante de la lingerie sexy, first published in Paris by Love Me Tender in 1983. The German edition was issued by PPV-Verlag in Zürich under licence from Love Me Tender and appeared around 1984. Bibliographic sources consistently record the edition at 125 pages, with numerous photographic and illustrated reproductions.
The book presents a playful and deliberately irreverent history of lingerie, moving through its cultural history, cinema, advertising, and fashion. Rather than approaching underwear as conventional costume history, Paillochet treats it as a visual and cultural subject, bringing together archival imagery, film stills, advertising, and photographic material surrounding the changing representation of the female body.
The German edition credits Jürgen Legath for the German adaptation and Jossette Cagli for the translation. The graphic concept is by Nouvelle Vague, with a cover photograph by Jacques Schumacher; production was overseen by Rolf Wilms and the book was printed by Hermann F. R. Stumme in Hamburg.
The publication belongs to a broader group of European editions that followed the original French volume. The German edition was later followed by further editions and related translations, including the English-language Unmentionables: The Allure of Lingerie, published in New York in 1984.
With its large format, photographic emphasis, and deliberately pop-oriented presentation, Drunter & Drüber is both a period document of lingerie culture and an example of the graphic, erotic, and fashion publishing that circulated through Europe during the 1980s. Its combination of cinema, advertising, fashion, and photographic imagery gives the book a distinctly archival quality beyond its original subject.
Intermission exists in the space between documentation and devotion an ongoing archive of cultural fragments that refuse to vanish. Each title within our portfolio is selected not for trend, but for tension: between what was meant to disappear and what insists on remaining.
We work with objects that speak quietly but persistently publications, recordings, and editions that define the undercurrents of art, sound, and design. Together they form a living record of marginal brilliance, a collection that privileges significance over scale.

Every Intermission title is handled as an artifact. We believe that preservation is an act of reverence one that begins the moment you open a cover or unspool a tape.
To experience a piece, do so slowly. Allow the air to touch the paper, let light fall softly over each page. Avoid excess pressure; handle edges rather than surfaces. Each mark, fold, or patina is part of its passage through time evidence of care rather than decay.
We encourage collectors to engage not only with the content, but with the gesture of preservation itself: a quiet commitment to memory.
