Issue No. 14 of Art-Rite, the independent New York art magazine founded by Walter Robinson, Edit deAk, and Joshua Cohn. Published irregularly from SoHo between 1973 and 1978, Art-Rite became one of the key publications documenting the downtown New York art scene during the transition from Minimalism and Conceptual art toward the alternative-space culture that emerged throughout the late 1970s.
The issue features a cover by Carl Andre and was edited by Walter Robinson and Edit deAk, with John Howell and Alan Moore as contributing editors and Yuri as photo editor. Its editorial structure reflects the magazine's close relationship with the artists, writers, photographers, and independent spaces that formed the cultural infrastructure of downtown New York during the period.
The editors' note credits Minda de Gunzburg and AZDA (Association pour le Soutien et la Diffusion de l'Art) for supporting a research trip to Europe, which enabled them to collect most of the foreign publications featured in this issue. As a result, No. 14 operates not only as a document of the New York scene, but also as an international survey of independent art publishing and alternative artistic activity circulating between Europe and the United States.
Published with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, the issue captures Art-Rite at a significant point in its short but influential run, when the magazine was functioning simultaneously as an artist publication, critical platform, and archive of the rapidly changing international contemporary art landscape.
Intermission exists in the space between documentation and devotion an ongoing archive of cultural fragments that refuse to vanish. Each title within our portfolio is selected not for trend, but for tension: between what was meant to disappear and what insists on remaining.
We work with objects that speak quietly but persistently publications, recordings, and editions that define the undercurrents of art, sound, and design. Together they form a living record of marginal brilliance, a collection that privileges significance over scale.

Every Intermission title is handled as an artifact. We believe that preservation is an act of reverence one that begins the moment you open a cover or unspool a tape.
To experience a piece, do so slowly. Allow the air to touch the paper, let light fall softly over each page. Avoid excess pressure; handle edges rather than surfaces. Each mark, fold, or patina is part of its passage through time evidence of care rather than decay.
We encourage collectors to engage not only with the content, but with the gesture of preservation itself: a quiet commitment to memory.
