About

A quiet pursuit of permanence in an ever vanishing world.

intermission books is a rare and archive bookstore dedicated to preserving and circulating printed works of enduring cultural, artistic, and intellectual significance. We focus on books not simply as objects, but as repositories of ideas, histories, and visual culture that deserve continued access and stewardship.

Specializing in photography, art, design, fashion, underground culture, artist publications, independent presses, and collectible ephemera, we seek out rare, out-of-print, and archival titles that have shaped cultural discourse while remaining difficult to access. Every publication is selected for its historical relevance, editorial quality, visual impact, and contribution to broader cultural narratives. Our work is guided by a commitment to archival preservation and the belief that printed matter plays a vital role in safeguarding cultural memory. Through research, documentation, and circulation, we aim to keep significant publications active within contemporary conversations, connecting collectors, artists, researchers, institutions, and readers with materials that might otherwise disappear from view.

Rooted in Mexico City, intermission books stands as a pioneering project in Mexico and across Latin America. As the first rare and archive bookstore in Mexico dedicated to contemporary visual culture and collectible printed matter, we operate within an international network of collectors, artists, publishers, archives, and cultural institutions, bringing exceptional material into dialogue with local and regional audiences. More than a bookstore, intermission books is an ongoing archival project devoted to the preservation, study, and circulation of printed culture.
